Harlequins have fined England scrum-half Danny Care an undisclosed amount after he was arrested following their 21-10 Heineken Cup defeat by Toulouse.
The 24-year-old was fined for being drunk and disorderly before being released from police custody.
"We have a crucial Heineken Cup match at the weekend in Toulouse, so it was important we acted quickly," said Quins director of rugby Conor O'Shea.
"Danny has apologised and understands fully what is expected of him."
He added: "We take it very seriously. However, from the club's point of view a line will be drawn under the incident and we will get on with our preparation for the match."
The Rugby Football Union has confirmed that it will not impose disciplinary action on Care, who did not play in the World Cup because of a toe injury.
However, the player has been reprimanded by Stuart Lancaster, head of England's interim coaching team, during a phone conversation.
Care issued a public apology for his actions on Tuesday, admitting: It was a silly thing to do.
We had just played a tough game and I was out with some of the team and friends but should have remembered that, as a professional player, I am on duty throughout the season and need to set a better example to the fans.
The Toulouse defeat marked the end of Quins' 14-game unbeaten run, which has helped them to the top of the Premiership.
