FC Basel v Man Utd

Dimitar Berbatov has been ruled out of Manchester United's crucial Champions League clash with Basel on Wednesday with an ankle injury.

Javier Hernandez is already out for a month with the ankle injury he suffered against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson will have to rely on Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck as his senior strikers in Switzerland.

United require at least a point at St Jakob Park to qualify for the Champions League knock-out stages.
Ferguson had hoped Berbatov would be fit for the game as Welbeck has made just one substitute appearance since suffering a muscular problem on England duty last month.

Michael Owen is also injured, while Federico Macheda has only played four minutes as a substitute in the Premier League and Mame Biram Diouf has just played in the League Cup.

United needed Ashley Young's last-minute goal to secure a draw in the first Group C game between the sides in September at Old Trafford, but the England international is looking for all three points in the reverse fixture.

"It would be dangerous to think we only need a draw," Young said.
"No-one at this club has that mentality.

"We still have it in our hands to go there and qualify, which was the main target and we will be trying to win."
Brazilian twins Rafael and Fabio also miss the game through injury, as does Tom Cleverley, while midfielder Michael Carrick is suspended.
