Tears that turned me into Glory McIlroy: I blew it, I choked

Rory McIlroy couldn't bring himself to ring home on the night he threw away the Masters. He couldn't stand the feeling that he had let everyone down. He couldn't shake the feeling of shame.
It was the next morning, when he finally spoke to his mother Rosie, that the emotional dam broke.
'It'll be ok, Rors, you'll get plenty more chances,' said his mum.

Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker thrashed in Presidents Cup

Tiger Woods suffered the biggest matchplay defeat of his career as Adam Scott and KJ Choi hammered him and Steve Stricker 7&6 in the Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne.
The defeat equalled the biggest-ever losing margin at the tournamen.

It was the first time Woods had faced his former caddie Steve Williams, who apologised for words he admitted could be "construed as racist" this month.

Despite the loss, the United States lead 4-2 after day one of the event.
Woods and Williams, who split in June, shook hands on the first tee.
The former world number one failed to register a single birdie in the foursomes.
They got off to a quick start, and we just couldn't keep up, said Woods.

"We kept falling to the wrong side of these slopes. The golf course is so difficult, it's hard to make up shots."

Greg Chalmers survives Tiger Woods fightback

Local boy Greg Chalmers survived a fine late run by Tiger Woods to win his second Australian Open.

The 38-year-old, who first won the title in 1998, carded a three-under final round of 69 to finish 13 under, one and two shots clear of compatriot John Senden and Woods respectively.

Woods recorded an eagle and five birdies in a fine 67 as he battled back from a third-round 75.
Victory at The Lakes would have been a first for Woods in nearly two years.
